Being a Veterinary surgeon is a challenging, but satisfying profession. The work is extremely varied- from clipping the nails of a parrot to operating on a great dane all in the course of a day! When not at work I enjoy keeping fit, gardening and reading.

Sue Wells

Position:

Veterinary Surgeon

Interests:

Small animal care and providing a friendly, caring and compassionate service.
I qualified from the Royal Veterinary College, London in 1984. After a short spell in Leicester, I settled in Shrewsbury, Shropshire, where I still live today with my vet husband, my dog and cats. I have always concentrated on companion animals in my career, but in 1987 | exchanged the Shropshire plains for the desert in Dubai, UAE where I worked for 3 years in mixed practice in The Dubai Veterinary Hospital, treating goats, camels and exotic species as well as cats and dogs. Returning to the UK, I worked for the following 10 years at the PDSA in Wolverhampton, one of our largest Veterinary charities. I returned to Shrewsbury to help my husband run our own practice Copthorne Veterinary clinic, and specifically the hydrotherapy unit, in the year 2000. Since then I have remained in private practice in and around Shropshire, and started working at St Georges when it opened as a Veterinary practice in 2013. I am very much a small animal GP and specialize only in giving our clients and our patients a friendly, caring and compassionate service.

Alan Koshbayan BVSc MRCVS

Position:

Head Veterinary Surgeon

Interests:

Ultrasonography
I came south from the Wirral after qualifying from the University Of Liverpool. My first vet job was at my student practice following graduation in 2010 and I joined the Lockwood Group in 2011. Since 2016 I have run the Blackheath Branch. I particularly enjoy the challenges of working sole charge -this also allows me to know all Blackheath's pets and clients at a more personal level. Having been at the other end of the consult table I can understand how frustrating it is to have to explain what the problem was again- it's nice to see the same person twice! My interests include clinical pathology (the diagnosis of disease using tests), and ultrasound. I always approach any job I do with enthusiasm and I like to take a thorough approach. In my spare time I regularly attend military style fitness classes and have done a variety of races (some harder than others!!).

Pets:

I have an ever hungry (just like me) yellow bellied terrapin called Herbert, and four geriatric goldfish including a blind one-eyed fish called George.

I love being able to use my skills and knowledge to help animals and their owners. I also love travelling and feel very lucky that I have been able to put my skills to use volunteering at veterinary charities all over the world.
